First Post!!

Yesterday we posted for the first time on our Instagram!

We introduced the band's logo and the band's name, we decided that we wanted to have a purple background aesthetic since the band's logo is purple. This is what our feed is going to look like so it matched their aesthetic since nowadays everyone cares about how aesthetic things look and if it doesn't match an aesthetic they don't like it.

and they are as excited as we are!!

This is the start of everything and we hope to grow a lot more in the next few weeks this is going to be something big and hopefully, people enjoy keeping up with everything as much as we are going to!

HERE IS OUR FIRST BLOG POST!!!!

As you guys can see we have the purple aesthetic that we will try to match with all our posts and right now we just did a little introduction post. My partner Sofia Lander also posted the Instagram on her own Instagram story so hopefully, people begin to follow it to keep up with our content and help us grow this amazing project. Through our Instagram in the bio, we placed the band's real Instagram in also to help them grow on their account too! This project is going to benefit all of us and we can't wait to gather this experience and hopefully help this amazing band grow in their audience.

Update on the Demo

Cross our Fingers!!!

So we were sorting final details with the band communicating things about our project and the due dates. However they have no official day to record their demo yet, they communicated with us that it would be soon but nothing for sure. Sofi, Gerardo, and I are crossing our fingers hoping that we can have a date soon since the project is due 4/10/22 we still have time but there is a lot we have to get working on. 

We shared our class schedule to them of everything we had to have done per week since we previously told them but didn't give them a clear visual. I sent them the class schedule for the project in order for them to be able to understand what things we have to do and for when. 

My team and I are soon going to begin working on everything that is specifically for the project:

• A promotion package for the album: must have a music video 
• A social media page promoting the band and the digipack of the album

We are soon going to start posting on our insta to get it up and running and hopefully soon we can get some exclusive backstage shots when the band records the demo but as soon as we get something will make sure to share it with you guys. Also, we want to do posts introducing the band members and what they do in the band, but these are just some ideas we are all over the place right now but on Tuesday we have class together and we will start creating posts for the Instagram and start to plan the schedule to make sure we have everything done for when it's due.

The band has been very busy this week the band has been super busy and they have not been able to get together to record the demo, however; they were able to practice the song but they are missing two members of the band.

This has been a very stressful week filled with many things to do but hopefully next week we can get more content to share with you guys.

We will be posting more soon! We are still trying to figure out the logistic behind the schedule and the idea for the video but in the next two weeks, we will begin organizing everything so we can have everything ready by the deadline. We are keeping in contact with the band in order to plan everything since we are so many it's hard to coordinate the schedules. This week we will talk to them and come up with a schedule to record the music video.

Hopefully, we will get the demo soon and hopefully you guys like this little preview the band is amazing and they are being so supportive with everything!!! We are so excited for this journey🎸

NEW SONG!

So our wonderful band has created a new song!!

This is the song that we will be promoting and creating the music video too.  It's called "Black Cat" the lyrics are amazing and hopefully, we can get a demo soon to share with you guys. The band has been working very hard and we were helping them as much as we can but for now, there are not many updates with the band as soon as we get any new updates or content from the band we will share it with you guys!

I am not going to share the whole lyrics because I want it to be a surprise for you guys when we get the demo but I'll give you guys a preview of the chorus.

Rock and Roll

Rock Stars!!

What is rock?

There are so many genres of music, pop, jazz, classic, hip hop, and so many more.  Rock has been around for ages but what is it really. The straight-up definition from the dictionary states, "a form of popular music that evolved from rock and roll and pop music during the mid and late 1960s. Harsher and often self-consciously more serious than its predecessors, it was initially characterized by musical experimentation and drug-related or anti-establishment lyrics." but it's a lot more than that. Rock is filled with passion and emotion that not many understand. 

Rock has evolved through time and it has developed a series of common subgenres such as punk rock or classic rock. They're all different but have the same superficial idea but are so different, except for the most common factor of the genre which is the electric guitar. Rock rather than just being a music genre is a form of expression with the passion, the emotion, the rebellion, the freedom it expresses. Many artists aspire to be able to achieve this type of connection to their genre however not many are able to achieve it.

How has it influenced society?

Since rock was shown to the world it has cause a strong impact on the way people perceive music. It caused an impact on films, fashion, and society. It has created a way for people to come together for their love of this music. For example, the event LIVE AID.  This was a charity event created to help the women in Africa. This event reached a lot of people to participate while being able to impact the world in a positive way.

 

This was one of the largest television broadcasts in 1985 and inspired many to help a community in need. All of this was done by bringing people together with something they love. It reached 19 billion people across 150 nations which was impressive for their time since the technology wasn't as well developed as it is now.

How does it influence fashion?

Rock stars have a very unique way of dressing which has influenced everyone who loves this. They created a new fashion trend called Punk fashion. It's based on jeans or leather jackets, a lot of silver jewelry, dark colors, funky hairstyles, and crazy makeup. Vivienne Westwood, Saint Laurent, Chanel, and Valentino are all designer brands that influence the rock genre and sell it to the public.

In 1962 in London an English Rock Band was formed. They were a band that was a group for 6 decades! They are one of the most iconic rock bands in their era. This band defined what ROCK really was.

So we recently created Instagram for the band. Previously the band had an Instagram already created we will be working with both the Insta we created and the one they already had, however; since there are so many things that are going to be created just for the portfolio project we don't want to falsely engage their audience so we will be posting all that in our Insta. We will be using both accounts but one will be just for the media project and their account they already had created we will actually use to grow their audience.

On their Instagram that they had been working on we will be taking over from now on and we will be posting things so that their audience is constantly engaged and can keep motivated to keep on listening and following along. Then in the Instagram account that we created just for the project we will be sharing all the merch releases, the tour dates, the festivals, and all the things we wish the band can hopefully be able to do someday.

Now here is the Instagram we created for our portfolio project. We haven't posted anything yet because we haven't had the chance to post or take pictures of anything but as soon as we are able to meet with them or share any information we will post and share it with you guys. We are so excited about this! Social media accounts will be our greatest communication form and the best way to share with their fans everything that's happening. This is going to be the way for them to keep up with the band and learn about anything new. This is our main way of communication with their fans since they are aiming to attract a younger audience.

Its official!!!

Project Pluto

It's official!! We have decided that we are going to work with the band named Pluto. We are all very excited and looking forward to beginning this journey together. We want to help this band grow to its full potential, we are going to help them grow in their followers, their social media, and increase their listeners. My group and I aren't only doing this for our project but we are also very intrigued in getting that real-life experience of working alongside an artist.

We recently created a WhatsApp group chat to ease communication since we are so many it will be easier to communicate all together through a group chat to be able to facilitate the planning process and be able to coordinate everyone's schedule. This Saturday the band is going to go and record their demo for their new song and hopefully we get to listen to it soon and be able to share it with you guys. We are going to try our best to get some behind the scene shots to share with everyone.

The band is so excited to work together and they are looking forward to this journey too. I can't wait to be able to share more pictures and the scene process of everything we will be doing. This is going to be a long and consuming journey but we will make it worth the while. We are going to make it fun and we are going to make sure to involve all of u guys through everything. We will soon be sharing their social media profiles so that all of you guys can follow them and keep up with all the exciting news and new releases that we will be doing. My group and I will begin working on brainstorming ideas and when we have any rough drafts we will share them, we are waiting to get more information on the song and hopefully soon be able to hear it. The Band

PLUTO

We decided that working with the band Pluto would be the best choice and they seem very sweet. We already contacted them and started to brain storm ideas. They communicated their names, their genre, and some artists that inspire them so we could take inspiration. 

Their inspirations are very good their beats are so nice and my group and I really liked it. We decided to reaserch first about the artists that the shared with us, since we wanted to get inspired to begin our. brainstorming.

This where some of the videos we looked over to gather information to brain storm ideas for something that will fit their band perfectly. We really liked the idea that they had of creating a music video that has no story line and it switches back from instruments to random objects. My team and I thought this would be a great idea for the music video however this is not our final plan.

I will soon be writting a post to introduce the band and introduce them all. We are so excited for you guys to meet them! We will be posting more reaserch that we do and we will be posting more brainstorming ideas that we will have. The band is to soon release a song so hopefully they allow us to post a sneak peak but i'll keep you guys updated!

NEW PROJECT ALERT!

PORTFOLIO PROJECT!!

So last week we began to disccus our new project,  this is the AICE portfolio. There is a varaity of diffrent option of projects that we could pick: 

• Film Promotion
• Music Promotion
• Short Film
• Documentary

In this project I could have decided to work alone or in a group and I took the decision to work with two of my classmates Sofi Lander and Gerdado Leon. We all decided to work together in the MUSIC PROMOTION PROJECT! We have preiviously worked together and we enjoyed it and realize that we are a really good team. We talked in class and decided that we should do the Music Promo, we believe that this would be the funest project to do. Lander already started contacting band so that we can begin working side by side. 

We have diffrent bands but I believe that we are going to go with a band of a girl who is in Sofia's class. Their band name is Pluto! We already contacted the girl and they are very excited to work with us. 

We know that it will be a chanllenege since we are so many and there is a low of schedules that we will have to sort out, since we are three members and the band has four members, but we know it is going to be a fun and knowledgable experiance that will give us an insight to real life, because in the real worl you have to adapat and work with a lot of people. We are looking forward to inciating this project with everyone and hope that it will be as fun and exciting for them too!!

Horror Film

So in honor of Halloween, our teacher gave us a very unique assignment, we had to create a trailer for a film based on a prompt that our teacher provided to us. Then we had 60 minutes to plan the film because in the next class we would be given 90 minutes to edit and film. 

Due to this project, my team and I were able to gain many skills, especially improvisation skills. I was the actress, Sofia Lander was the director, and Gerardo Leon was the editor. We created a very funny trailer about a girl living a normal life until she got haunted in her school bathroom. This was very fun and my group and I had an amazing time recording. It was super stressful since we had to do everything super quickly however when we finished it was so interesting to see what we created as well as seeing what other people were able to create in such little time. 

Documentary

As well as creating silly fun films, Sofia, Gerardo, and I also made a documentary about teachers who were previously students at my high school. We had to plan, record, and edit the document. I was the director with Sofia and then Gerardo was the editor. Previously to starting this project we discussed documentary conventions as well as viewing two very interesting documentaries called "Exit through the gift shop" and "American Promise" here we were able to gather real knowledge of how different documentaries come out in the end. 

To begin, we started thinking of our subjects and we came up with Ms. Pinzon and Mr. Calderon, two very wonderful teachers who were previously alumni at our high school. We contacted them and asked them if they would like to participate and fortunately for us, they agree to be a part of our project. Later, we began to brainstorm different shots we needed and also came up with a list of 20 different b-roll shots we had to include. Our main question was "How does the perspective change from being a student in Cypress to working at Cypress?" Then came up with a list of 8 different questions to ask them:

1. When you graduated did you want to come to teach in Cypress?

2. Have you ever had a student that reminded you of yourself when you attended school as a student? 

3. How have these generations developed differently? 

4. How has your point of view of the school changed now that you experience everything from a teacher’s POV? 

5. How have security measures changed from when you went to school?

6. How do you think technology has affected the way students interact and develop themselves in school grounds? Compare with your past experience? 

7. What's something that you wish you could bring back from your days as a Cypress Student?

8. Do you think you are the teacher younger you would have liked to have? 

 The process of interviewing them was super fun we got to know a different aspect of our teacher we didn't know before. We gathered a bunch of information and after interviewing we would walk around our school looking for nice shots to include as b-roll. Later we sent everything to Gerardo so he could edit. After, we critiqued our documentary as well as the documentaries our classmates created. We were able to see where we went wrong and how we could improve next time we were placed in the situation that we needed to create a documentary.

I'm Back!!!

I'm Back!!!

This is a new year, a new class! We are back for A level and so far it's been amazing. In class, we have done so many projects one of the most interesting ones being the Film Distribution Project. 

In this project, the creative writing class of Cypress Bay High School created stories for our Media Studies class to create a marketing distribution plan alongside a trailer, teaser, and the key art for the film. We were given a story about a kid named Chance whose parents passed away and now are dealing with the process of grieving. Due to the fact that he can't move on from his parent's death, he starts to be haunted by this creature that prays on anger called the Nighthawks. 

My team and I created a plan to distribute this film through a limited release as well as a digital release. We also decided that we wanted to play the movie at 2 film festivals, LA Indie Horror Fest and Atlanta Horror Film Festival.  This is perfect since our film is a thriller/horror film, which will be rated 18+ since the film will be discussing topics that are too intense for a younger audience.  Our target audience is mainly going to be male college students since the main character is a boy around the same age.

The movie will be released on Friday, October 13, 2023, since it is a Friday the 13th, and it's on October which is when most of the horror films are released due to Halloween. The main way we will promote this film is through social media, Youtube ADs, and the Film Festivals.

This project was an amazing learning experience since we got to work on the creative and promotional aspects of distributing a film. It gave us a little preview of what it really is to create a plan for a film. A Level Begins

NEW START!! 

We are back and better than ever!

Hello, I'm so excited to be back, now I'm a senior and I decided to continue my path and transition to Media Studies A-Level. We are about to start a new journey and I would like to share my whole experience with you guys. We have done many projects that I will later share more about them with you guys and later through the year I will communicate my whole experience through my Portfolio Project! Hopefully, you guys follow along and enjoy the process as much as I will do!
