Reflection

The end has come...

So we are finally arriving at the final step its time to create our critical reflection video. This video is supposed to show and demonstrate how much I have grown through the process and what I have learned.

I feel like this project has helped me grow so much as a creator since before I had never fully recorded and edited a film. This portfolio project gave me this opportunity. I had a background in both directing and editing, but this was the final test. I had to go from beginner to professional. Recording this opening showed me many things that helped me grow as a producer. Then in the editing process, I learned many techniques and how to uses certain tools I had available. 

The CCR will show me how I have developed from being to end. It is crazy to think that we are already wrapping up. I perfectly recall the nerves I felt the moment the teacher mention their project, my anxiety really shot to the sky, it crazy to think that now its all over. Well almost...

Now I have to start to plan my CCR, how I'm going to do it and how I'm going to stand out for the Creative aspect of the video.

I have been thinking about this for a while and after viewing a few examples that the teacher showed us and after researching and answering the 4 questions I received. I got it!! I have the perfect idea of how I want to show my growth that this portfolio has brought to my life. I can't wait to share with you guys!

Distribution

Where will our film opening be available?

Sooooo, we finally finished!!!

Our film is done and now we are going to decide where we want to distribute it.

First, we are going to post it on youtube since it is a way that many creators expand their viewers, and people get to know them. This is a very good way to reach a mass audience. This allows marketing for our film since many if they like it share it with their friends and family. Many teenagers use this platform, so this is a greater and free way to reach our target audience.

Then, obviously, we are going to give you guys the exclusive preview since the opening will be posted here before it's posted on youtube since you guys have been so supportive and have kept up with everything. We are going to allow you all to see it first.

Also, we would try to get our film to be shown at a film festival, since this is a great way to meet other people doing small creations like us, and helps us expand our network to others. We are still not sure which festivals are available but we are for sure going to look into that.

Marketing Strategies

We are going to market our videos through many platforms of social media especially, Instagram since it's the main platform that reaches our target audience. We would post our video here as an IGTV for people to see it and promote our account. 

Sound

What Music?

So I texted Valley Palace, a small artist that creates music with no words, so I thought this would be perfect for our project. He gave me the right to use his music for my project.

I saw that my friend used him for his project too so I decided to check him out because I don't really know that many small artists. Since I saw that she answered my friend I decided to give him a shot. I really like his music and I decided to use the song, called 'Do over' I felt like this song fit the best with my film.

Also, there are other sounds like a phone ring that was done folly with my phone and a Virus New announcement that was done by Helbert Villa. Other than that is the dialogue that was recorded on set and also the background noises are natural from the recording. 

Blog: Recording Day

Recording Day!!

The day we all have been waiting is here. We were finally able to record, Sofi, Helbert, and Cami came to my house right after school and we recorded most of the afternoon. It was super fun and shout out to Helbert and Sofi who literally saved us, they were the best actors and were super cooperative and efficient. We finished thanks to them and we wouldn't have been able to do it without them. Today was such an amazing day and tomorrow we start the editing process so we will keep you guys updated with that. After completing the editing we begin the CCR which is the reflection process.

I'm so excited to share this amazing video its really short but because we didn't want to spill too much about our actual movie.  Tomorrow will show you guys how we are going with the editing and hopefully soon will be able to show you the complete film opening. This process has been so fun and my partner and I are so happy that we can share this with you guys. Hope you guys are as excited as we are for our final results!!

Update

Schedule!!

I know we haven't kept you guys updated that much I apologize for it, but the day is finally here.

Tomorrow we will record our film opening. The day we have all been waiting for is finally here. Everything is set up and hopefully comes out perfect. I have really high hopes for this project and I know all of them are going to become true. Tomorrow we are going to record our film right after school. Helbert and Sofi are going to come to my house and from here we are going to start with the process of everything.  Tomorrow we are going to try to complete our film and hopefully succeed at this, so we can start editing as soon as possible and rerecord any scenes if needed. 

Also, I know that we had previously said that we were going to film during spring break but since we changed the characters for our film we had to coordinate with Helbert and Sofia, and the only day that they were available was Monday so we decided to move the recording to this day.

It's finally here though and tomorrow is going to be so much fun, but more on that is coming since later that day I will be posting a behind-the-scenes blog of how we filmed everything. Hopefully, this gives you guys a bigger initiative to watch our film, and hopefully, it engages you guys with the curiosity of how our film is going to look at the end.

This blog is really short but tomorrow is going to be an amazing day and I can't wait to share it with you guys!

Costume

Outfits for the Opening

For Daniela which Sofi is going to be acting as we decided that we wanted her to look to be very causal. Since she is going to a football game, we decided that she should probably just wear a tank top and shorts. So talking with Sofia we decided upon this outfit.

Now for Micheal talking over, we decided that he should also wear something casual, something similar to Daniela, sort of short and a t-shirt. So discussing things over with Helbert we came to the conclusion that the best decision would be this outfit.

Soon we will be shooting so we have to start getting everything together, there are no props for the opening so we don't really have to focus on that but the outfits were something important and we finally came to the conclusion of what we wanted both Michael and Daniella to wear.

Character Change

Quick Changes!

So we are making a change in our characters.

First, we decided that we wanted to set Michael to be born in American, but after a long time and taking into consideration a lot of fo variables we decided we wanted to make Michael Colombian too. We decided that this would be good for the film since this could be something that they both would have in common and could help increases the plot and their love. We thought that when they met this could be the thing that they could start talking about when they first meet, to later on discover that they go to the same school and are going to the same game and so along. 

Also, since we are making this change we are changing our cast members.

Our new members are Sofia and Helbert, which are two of my close friends who are dating and they're both Latinos so we thought they would fit perfectly for this role. I asked Sofi and she agreed very excitedly to help us. She said she would talk to Helbert and see if he would like to help us too. Once they talked Helbert also agreed to help us. So now we changed our cast. They are a super cute couple so I thought that this would add so much realism to the film since they don't have to fake their feeling. This will make our feel be so much better and authentic. 

We are so excited to work with them and since they are my friends I'm really happy that they agreed to help me on this project because working with them is going to be so much fun!! I am really looking forward to the recording day but to make this happen we have to coordinate with them.

Last Minute Change!!

LOCATION CHANGE!!         LOCATION CHANGE!!        LOCATION CHANGE!!

Last-minute change Cami and I were talking and came to the conclusion that recording in Miami would be very complicated and dangerous. Right now we're in Spring Break so there are a lot of people in Miami making it super dangerous right now with the virus to go record there. We decide to base our move on the suburbs of New York. The main theme is still going to be New York love, we are just not going to develop the big city love for the film opening. We decide that recording everything here in Weston would be much better and safer for all of us.

We are still going to use the same outline and same shots we are just changing the ones that would show the city we are changing them to show more of the suburbs. My house and Cami's is still going to be used in our film like always but now the New York streets will just be one of the streets here in Weston.

Our film will still remain the same the plot and storyline are all the same. We just had to make this location change because it's more accessible and also safer for all of us. The film will still come out amazing and everything is still going to fit perfectly for this crazy love story. 

Schedule Changes

New Schedule

Supposedly we were supposed to start recording tomorrow and Saturday but unfortunately, we had to have some plans changed. We couldn't find a ride to take us to Miami the day we had to go so we had to move that to another day, and for when we recorded in our houses we decided to just do does things over spring break since none of us are leaving. 

We moved our schedule to Tuesday!!

The Miami shots and the house shots we will try to film on the same day since we are planning on starting to film early and then continue later on the day like around 5-6 pm and drive to Miami to film does shots.

This week has been crazy on both my partner and me since our grades for this quarter were ending we were super busy during the week and we were barely able to communicate to fix everything for Saturday. Either way, we still believe that filming on Tuesday will make everything work out perfectly since we coordinated together and believe that this is the best day. For this day we have a special surprise we are planning on filming some sort of behind the scenes or a blog to keep you guys updated with everything. 

My family is planning a trip for Tuesday so unfortunately, I will probably start the editing process until after I return but this is pretty simple and straightforward since I really like doing this. 

We have been falling behind but this week that we have off school for spring break we are hoping to catch up with everything. 

I will make sure to let you guys know of any changes and I'll make sure to post a preview of everything here. Thanks for all your support and I know we are all looking forward to how this is all going to come out.

Target Audience

Who is this filmed aimed for?

After talking with my partner we found out that we hadn't really come up with the target audience. We discovered that this was something that we hadn't really talked about. So we started to research.

This helped us understand and analyze our film's target audience and we came to the conclusion that we wanted our film to be directed towards the age group of 14-25-year-olds mainly but in general teenagers or young adults, since this is the age group that likes Romance films the most.

We then proceeded to research individually, which ones like romancing the most men or women. Cami and I had the feeling that women were going to be more and we were right. Females are the ones who are the most interested in Romance films. So we concluded that the gender our film would be aimed at would be females.

All this research helped us come to the conclusion that we wanted our target audience to be young women from around the ages of 14-25. This is who we are planning on targeting with our film since due to the facts we gathered with our research are the ones who show the most engagement towards Romance films. Of course, our film is open to anyone who wants to see it and we will try to attract as many viewers as possible but this will be our main target.

Casting Update

Our new cast members!!

So we finally decided who our actors are going to be,

Cami talked to her friend Gaby and Marshall, who are really close to her, and they said that they would love to act in our film opening.

Gaby was born in Colombia so she fits perfectly for the standards we had set for Daniela, and Marshal was born in the U.S. so he meets all the Michael standards. Gaby and Marshall are a couple in real life so this is going to add a greater feeling to our film since they don't have to fake their feelings. This is going to add a more realistic feel to our film and it intensifies the romance element we are trying to show.

Both Gaby and Marshal are the perfect match for our film and fit every single expectation Cami and I had in our head planned for our film. They are both super nice people and I'm super excited to work with them. Personally, I haven't really met Marshal but I have talked to Gaby and she is super nice, and working with her is going to be super easy since she is very down to help out and she is really excited about this project too.

Working with them is going to be so much fun and Cami and I are really looking forward to completing this project, not only for the grade but for the experience that it's going to give us. This is going to be such a fun time and project to complete with everyone that I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait to start recording.

Next week is bringing so many exciting things and we will make sure to create a blog for you guys so you can see all our backstage activities and how we completed everything!!

Title Update

What is our Title?

We finally decided on our title for our film!!

The title is.....

Love Sick

We decided on this title since our story is basically about two lovers who get separated because of a global pandemic of a disease. We thought lovesick would fit perfectly since they are sick in love and they are dealing with sickness at the same time.

The font of our title is going to be something similar to the one used in this blog since we want it to be very classic romantic and many romance films usually show their title in cursive. 

This title demonstrates and interprets everything our movie is trying to show which is love and the struggle of the global pandemic sickness. Someone who is lovesick is someone who is crazy in love with a person so using this title show our audience how they are crazy in love but also could get sick if they see each other.

People when they see this title can infer and interpret what our story is going to be about so Cami and I decided that this was the title that we wanted and the one that fit what we wanted for our project the best. This title is short, sweet, and simple, the 3 Rs we needed for our perfect title. 

We believe this title is going to create great engagement and make the audience look forward to watching this movie. This title will help create and enlarge our audience since when someone reads lovesick and see our movie poster they are going to be so engaged and captivated with it and probably will want to see and know everything about the movie.

Cami and I are so excited to produce Love Sick and are really looking forward to the final project, hopefully, you guys are too!!

Editing Softwares & Camara Equipment

Which editing software is the best?

I am going to be editing the project and the two editing software that I have available and that I know how to use are the iMovie and Adobe Premier. 

The one that I think I'm going to use on this project is Adobe Premier. The first time I used Premier was in my film class in 8th grade, since then I fell in love with the program and found that it made editing so easy. All the options it gives you and all the ways you can manipulate your film. As adding color schemes and the title. This app makes it so easy.

I took iMovie into consideration but after thinking it through Adobe is more professional and sophisticated and since I already know how to use most things using this app will be easier since once you actually get the hang of Adobe Premier everything becomes so easy. It provides me with so many options to help our film come out amazing such as manipulating the duration in such an easy way and sitting scenes in Adobe is so easy and in iMovie is harder. 

Adobe Premiere is definitely the way to go in this project. This app will help our project be amazing and come out looking super professional.

Which Camara?

Cami and I don't really have access to such sophisticated camera equipment as the one's blogger or professionals use, but we think that our phones will work perfectly fine for this project. We wanted it to look as professional as possible so we will try to do everything for it to portray the effect that it is being recorded in a fancy device. We will probably use my phone or Camis depending on who has the better camera.

For the camera to be still and not shaking, we will use a tripod I have at home which will help increase the quality of our film.

Hopefully, with these things, our project will come out just like we are imaging and hopefully look as professional as possible.

So here is a final outline of what each scene is going to be in the film:

We took a long time talking and creating the whole film but we finally completed the final step of the film preparation, our outline. This is showing all the shots and angles we will be using, also what our characters are doing in those scenes. I'm very excited and passionate about this so hopefully, this all comes out as what Cami and I are imagining for our film project. We will both make the biggest effort for this to be as perfect as we can for our audience. Complete

This is our final draft but nothing is set in stone since will we are recording we could change anything accordingly to however we feel will fit best for our film, but this is the general idea for our film opening.

Role Distribution

Who is going to do what?

After a long day of discussing everything with Cami, we both concluded on the roles each one of us is going to have in this awesome project.

To begin......

Me (Ana)

I will be in charge of editing. I'm going to make sure all the scenes fit together greatly so our film once it's all together looks amazing. I'm going to be using premier, to edit. This conclusion was made since I really enjoy editing things and making them come to life. I believe that the most important thing when making a move is the actual editing process and making sure that everything comes together perfectly. I will be doing this alongside Cami's helps and using our ideas on how every scene should be placed. Making the movie come to life is a huge part of the project but I'm really looking forward to doing this. I believe this project is going to come out really nice and I can't wait to put everything together.

Camila

She is going to be working on directing the film on recording everything. She is going to be in charge of making sure that every scene we do demonstrates and portrays the feeling and sensation we want our audience to receive. She is going to make sure every shot comes out perfect and that everything is in order.  Cami is going to be telling all of the actors what to do and how to place themselves. I alongside will be helping her with everything but as more of an assistant director.  I will share my ideas but she is going to make sure that everyone is happy when recording our opening.

Daniela and Michael

These characters will be played by two of Cami's really close friends that fit all of our standards for our characters. In real life, her friends are already dating so this will be amazing for the film since the chemistry is already there so this will make our film look a million times better since no one is going to have to fake the feelings they have for each other. This will make our opening seem so much more realistic which will make everything come together so much more smoothly.

Background Characters

Families are one of the main background characters and this is going to be played by Cami's family will play a role as Michael's family and my family will be Daniela's.

We want this film to be perfect and my partner and I will make sure to make everything come out as awesome as we can. This is a very important project to us and we are putting so much work into it so that the final result is amazing!

Where?

The final decision of the location:

Cami and I came to the final decision of where we want our project to take place. We came to the conclusion that is what going to be in Miami but where exactly. We live in the suburbs so it would be very difficult to imitate the city here. Thankfully we live at 45 mins from Miami which is a very good replacement for New York City.  My partner and I through the city wanted to really show the love of our two characters and the connection they have for each other.   We live that this is going to be possible by going to brickle or maybe the Miami Design District since the city looks super nice from here, and we believe that recording the few yet very important scenes for our film.

The scenes that will be recorded here are the ones where Daniela and Michael bump into each other and where they meet and it's love at first sight. This feeling has to be authentic as the location. We want our audience to get a sense that this is all true so driving to Miami will help us express this the most. We had an idea to use a green screen but as we thought everything through and came to the conclusion that Miami would feel the most authentic.

Then the other scenes will take place in my house and in Cami's house. This is where most of the shooting will take place. My house will be Daniela's house and Michael's house will be recorded at Camila's. My partner lives super close so in case we need to change locations this will be very easy for us since her house is located in the same neighborhood as mine. This scenes is where we are going to capture the different cultures and social statuses of each character. In these locations is where our audience is going to be able to learn everything about our character and their backgrounds. This is where we are also going to introduce the virus to everyone.
